 What does it mean to major in a technical course of study? It means that you've committed to a sequential course of study in a technical program area here at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.
When should I pick a major? Most students choose a major after they take the Technical Arts Exploratory course in 9th grade, but there are still options if you are in 10th or 11th grade.
Can any CRLS student take a full year RSTA course? Yes, it doesn't matter if you are majoring in the subject or not. Level 1 (Introductory) courses are open to all; however, enrollment in Level 1 courses require successful completion of Level 1, or the Instructo's permission.
How are students evaluated? Teachers evaluate student performance against standards that are alligned with the Mass. Deptartment of Education Frameworks. RSTA also has an automated competency tracking system that identifies completed competencies in your technical area. At any time we can print out a report for you that lets you know how you are doing. Students are also expected to build portfolios of their work in RSTA classes
Do I have to take the MCAS if I am majoring in a RSTA program? Yes, all RSTA students are part of CRLS and must fulfill CRLS graduation requirements, including the passing of MCAS.
